<div itemprop="description"> <strong> Stott, Eric - </strong> 97, passed away on November 3, 2011 at the Ocean View Manor in Eastern Passage.&nbsp; Eric is survived by his wife of 36 years, Ellen Mary Stott; their &nbsp;children, Krista Stott-Jones (David), Truro; Kenneth Lingley (Lori-Ann), Charlottetown; &nbsp;Karl Lingley (Judy), Dartmouth; Kiersten Cote (Denis), Alberta; and his grandchildren, Kassandra, Brittany, Rianne, Kenneth, Kati, Robert, Madalin, Mathias and Samuel.&nbsp; Eric was born and raised in Lancashire, England.&nbsp; Eric loved to sing and studied at the Royal College of Music in Manchester.&nbsp; During the war, he served with the Fleet Air Arm of the British Navy which in 1944 brought him to Yarmouth to train future airmen.&nbsp; In Yarmouth he met the Blanchard family which changed the direction of his life again. After his military service ended in England, he decided to immigrate to Canada and began studying to be an Industrial Arts teacher.&nbsp; His career began in a shop mobile travelling rural Nova Scotia and ended as the Director of Industrial Arts for the Dartmouth school system. Eric&rsquo;s love of music never diminished as he aged.&nbsp; His lovely voice was shared with many as the tenor soloist at First Baptist Church in Halifax making guest appearances with the Halifax Choral Society, Saint John Oratorio Society, Halifax Symphony Orchestra, and Dartmouth Choral Society. He sang in a series of children&rsquo;s programs for CBC TV and as a soloist on CBC radio.&nbsp; Eric and Ellen loved to travel and over the years travelled around the world from left to right and top to bottom, visiting every continent.&nbsp; Together, they travelled somewhere every year with a trip to the Arctic and a Baltic Sea cruise in his 94th year.&nbsp; Funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church, 1300 Oxford St. at 2:00 pm on Thursday, November&nbsp; 10, 2011.&nbsp; The interment will be held at a later date. &nbsp;&nbsp;Donations in memory of Eric may be made to charities dear to him, namely;&nbsp; the Dartmouth General Hospital,&nbsp; the Nova Scotia Food Bank, the Canadian Cancer Society and the First Baptist Church.&nbsp; <p> &nbsp; </p> </div>
