Currie (Rattray) Eira Lillian, age 89, of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2016 at home, surrounded by her family.
Born in Hazel Hill, Guysborough County, a place she loved
dearly, she was a daughter of the late Harry Hutton and Emma Bertha (MacDuff) Rattray.

Over the years, Eira had many places she called home; in Ontario, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia, spending many years in the Amherst, Fort Lawrence area before moving to Dartmouth. She was so talented and kind hearted. Her hands were always busy sewing, knitting, quilting, and doing needlework. She enjoyed bowling, the outdoors, and especially watching the birds. Church played an important role throughout her life especially in Amherst. Mom can rest easy, knowing she has left a legacy of kindness and caring which will be passed on.

Eira is survived by her daughters, Holly (David) Trevelyan, Dartmouth, Jane (Michael) Kieley, Moncton, N.B., Carol (James) Kent, Quispamsis, N.B.; sons David (Louise), Dartmouth, and James
(Mishell), Calgary; grandchildren Gavin, Heather, Jennifer, Aaron, Travis, Wanda, Christopher, Lauren, Sarah, and Samuel; as well as seven great-grandchildren. They will all miss Grammy “Bacon” dearly for her handmade quilts and gifts, chocolate chip cookies, apple pie, her hugs and that beautiful smile.
Of her eight siblings, she is also survived by Douglas (Sarah) Rattray, Hazel Hill, Louise (John) Cote, Charlottetown, PEI and Velma Burke, Lake Cowichan, B.C.
She was predeceased by her husband Thomas; brothers, Hutton, Arthur, John; sisters Edith and Flora.

There will be no visitation at her request. Cremation has taken place with a service for family and interment to take place in the spring in Amherst.
Although Mom loved flowers, memorial donations in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, the Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation or a charity of choice.

The family would like to extend its sincere appreciation for the care and support our mother received at The Berkeley, Dartmouth and the Admiral, Dartmouth, especially over the last few weeks.

Online condolences may be made by visiting the Dartmouth Chapel at www.atlanticfuneralhomes.com
