Edith Mae Colley age 93, of East Preston
Mother and Matriarch of the Colley Family passed away peacefully on the evening of the 21 of May, 2014 at Dartmouth General Hospital.
Born in East Preston, Edith Colley wife of the late James Alexander Colley and last surviving child of the late Richard & Jane (Williams) Slawter and mother and matriarch of the Colley Family.
Elder and longest serving member of the East Preston United Baptist church and active member of many church organizations such as the Ladies Auxiliary, Mass Choir, Leader of the Canadian Girls in Training, Red Cross, Women’s Missionary Society and one of the founding members of the East Preston senior citizen club and many other organizations.
Operator of the second post office in East Preston, official baker for the community and Hostess to all who ventured to her door on purpose or by chance. Mama was a natural nurturer and giver of unconditional love.
She is survived by daughters; Loretta, Joyce, Nina, Edith, Myra, Ida, Thelma (Bernard), Kathy (Omiele), Rosella sons; Spencer (Rosie), James, Simon (Sandra), William (Leslie), Bruce, Ernest (Juanita), Garnet.
59 Grandchildren, 103 Great Grandchildren, 31 Great-Great grandchildren. Godchildren; Birley Downie, Nicole Colley, Parker Sparks
Predeceased by her children; Ervine, Robert and 2 infants, her brothers Ralph, Louis, and Ernest;
Special thanks to Dr. Linda L Gagnon and the VON nurses Kayla and Valerie the Doctors nursing staff at the Dartmouth General Hospital Emergency.
Visitation will be held at the Atlantic Funeral Home
Monday afternoon 2-4 and Memorial Service to begin at 7pm with the Ladies Auxiliary and family on May 26 2014
