<div itemprop="description">GRAHAM, Dorothy Irene: Of Dartmouth passed away August 4, 2014 at the age of 87. Born in Toronto ON, the daughter of Henry and Susan LeGard, she married Kenneth B. Graham in Aylmer QC. As a proud naval wife she followed him to Halifax, Quebec City, Cornwallis, Ottawa, Shannon Park, Kingston ON and finally settled in Dartmouth. Dorothy was a loving and caring woman for whom volunteering was a way of life. She was a member of the Girl Guides of Canada for 55 years, holding a number of positions in Dartmouth Area. As &ldquo;Kanga&rdquo; she introduced many young women to the joys of camping at Kanada in West Petpeswick. She loved all aspects of nature and delighted in sharing her knowledge with others. Dorothy was the first woman, elected in 1975, as an elder on the session of Iona Presbyterian Church. She served God and her church in many ways and also served on the Presbytery of Halifax-Lunenburg and with Ten Days for World Development. Dorothy was a member of the Dartmouth Seniors Service Centre and over the years led exercise, Tea for Two, sang with the choir and served on the Board. In recognition of her volunteerism she received several awards including the Remarkable Seniors Award from the NS government, HRM Volunteer Award and an Honorary Life Membership in Girl Guides. Dorothy was employed in a number of different positions retiring in 1986 from Canada Employment and Immigration in Dartmouth. <br />Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Kenneth B, son James B. and brother Leonard LeGard, Nictaux. She is survived by daughter Irene and son in law Tom Rose, son Glen and daughter in law Dorothy , son Robert all of Halifax and brother Gordon LeGard and sister in law Wendy Stittsville ON as well as six grandchildren and six great grandchildren and nieces and nephews across Canada.<br /> Visitation will be held at Iona Church, 90 Lucien Drive ,Dartmouth on Thursday August 7, 7:00 &ndash; 9:00 pm as well as the funeral service, Friday August 8, 2014 at 2:00 pm the Rev. Dr. Cynthia Chenard officiating. Donations in memory of Dorothy may be made to Iona Presbyterian Church, PO Box 2554, Dartmouth NS B2W 4B7.
