<div itemprop="description">CONROD, Dorothy Mae, 72, of Dartmouth, NS passed away September 29, 2016 at the Dartmouth General Hospital with her daughter, Kelly, by her side. Born in Enfield, NS, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Anna (Cole) MacDonnell.<br><br>Dorothy was a beautiful woman inside and out. She was married to Tom for 55 years; the love of her life! Her pride and joy were her children and grandchildren. Dorothy loved the New York Yankees (especially Derek Jeter), dancing, good music, long-country drives, a good game of cards and playing crib. Dorothy had Type 1 diabetes for 45 years; yet, never complained. She loved and lived the simple life!<br><br>She is survived by her husband, Tom Conrod. Two sons: Jeffrey Conrod (Holly Blackler), Dartmouth and Gregory Conrod (Peggy McPherson), Falmouth, NS. <br>Two daughters: Janet Conrod, Dartmouth and Kelly (Paul) Eaglestone, Porter’s Lake. Six sisters: Shirley (Nelson) Bellefontaine, Doreen (Harley) Beaver, Joan Schiavetta, Patsy Carroll, Bernice (LeRoy) Bailey and Barbara Dearman. Three brothers: Earl (Linda) MacDonnell, Roderick (Joan) MacDonnell and Daniel (Shirley) MacDonnell. Grandchildren: Andrea Conrod, Mineville and Kyle Conrod, Dartmouth; Ryan and Sydney Eaglestone, Porter’s Lake. Step-Grandchildren: Matthew and Michael Cudmore, Falmouth. Several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by an infant sister; grandson: Shaun Conrod; brothers-in-law: Joseph Schiavetta, Charlie Carroll and Junior Dearman; sister-in-law: Doris MacDonnell.<br><br>Visitation and funeral service will be held at the Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main Street, Dartmouth. Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 4th from 2:00-4:00pm and 7:00-9:00pm. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 5th at 1:00pm. Cremation has taken place. Flowers graciously accepted. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.<br><br>The family would like to thank EHS, family physician Doctor Lorna Carter (retired), Dartmouth General Hospital ER staff and Palliative Care 4 East (especially Krystyna Black, RN).
