<div itemprop="description">Abbott (Tufts), Dorothy Gertrude – age 78 of Dartmouth passed away peacefully Monday, November 21, 2016 in Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in Bonavista, Manitoba she was a daughter of the late Alfred and Gertrude (Horner) Tufts. Dorothy was an avid gardener, loved spending time outdoors and was an enthusiastic member of the Red Hat Society. She loved to read and spent much of her career working at the Dartmouth Woodlawn and Annapolis Royal libraries. She also volunteered as a member of the Dartmouth General Hospital Auxiliary. Most of all, Dorothy loved spending time with her 6 grandchildren. A special thanks to all of the nursing staff and physicians at the Dartmouth General Hospital. Dorothy is survived by her husband of 57 years, George “Stan”; children, David (Charlotte), Stephen (Colleen), Donald, Tanya Gates (Robert); grandchildren, Gregory, Nicole, Myles, Mitchell, Cole, Jordan; brother, Donald Tufts (Kay); sisters, Carol Arthur, Sandra Williams (Floyd), Barbara Barlow (Wilfred). Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of life will be held 1pm, Friday November 25th with a reception to follow both in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main Street, Dartmouth. Private family interment in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
