<div itemprop="description">MERRIAM, Donna Jane, age 70 of Dartmouth, passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2016 in the Veteran's Memorial Building, QEII, Halifax. <br> <br>Born in Port Greville, Cumberland County, she was the only daughter of the late Donald St. Clair and Evelyn Mary (Thorne) Merriam. <br>She married Ken Moran of Halifax and lived for several years in New Brunswick after completing, in 1970, the Home Economics Program at the Nova Scotia Teacher's College in Truro. In 1971, she and her husband were blessed with Scott Patrick joining their family. In 1981, she attended Mount Saint Vincent University where she studied Sociology and became their first graduate with a Bachelor's Degree in Women's Studies. Donna graduated from Dalhousie University in 1984 with a Master's Degree in Public Administration. For many years, she led community development projects in Halifax which focused on the social and health needs of the elderly, and later, on the employment and training needs of people with disabilities. Pre-retirement, she was Administrator of Victoria Hall, a heritage private residence for senior women. In all of these positions, she relied on finding humor in life's ironies and valuing spirit and gratitude in her day to day life. She tried to honour and recognize God in nature and all living things. <br>Donna is survived by her son, Scott Patrick Moran who was always the light of her life. She is also survived by her brother, Peter R. (Sharon), Dartmouth and her nieces Deborah (Michael) Peckham, Edmonton and Joanne (Alan Slone), Nashville and her brother Thomas G. (Barbara) and niece Courtney, all of Dartmouth. <br> <br>Cremation has taken place.Visitation will be held on Friday December 2 from 7-9pm in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main Street, Dartmouth. The memorial service will take place at 2pm on Saturday December 3 in the funeral home chapel, Rev. Katherine Bourbonniere officiating. Reception to follow. Interment to take place in Port Greville at a later date. <br> <br>In lieu of flowers and in support of voluntary agencies, please make donations to the N.S.
