<div itemprop="description">CHITTICK, Donald Raymond- 85, peacefully passed away with family by his side Saturday, July 28 2012 at the Dartmouth General Hospital. Born July 2, 1927 in Sheet Harbour, he was a son of the late Mary Elizabeth (Naugler) and James Frederick Chittick. Donald joined the Bank of Nova Scotia after High School in Sheet Harbour.&nbsp; He went on as branch manager in Halifax, Windsor (ON) and Barrie (ON); he travelled Canada wide as a bank inspector and worked at head office in Toronto for the last 17 years of his career.&nbsp; Donald was an active member of the community in Barrie (ON); a social activist; president of several charitable organizations; spear-headed the first neighborhood watch program in Barrie; lobbied for the CN VIA rail commuters program from Barrie to Toronto; and while the president of Barrie&rsquo;s Red Cross division developed the first emergency preparedness plan for The County of Simcoe which was later implemented for the rest of Ontario.&nbsp; After retiring, he took a keen interest in Genealogy and traced his Chittick 'Irish' roots in detail. Donald was a member of the Masons Eureka Lodge #42 at Sheet Harbour and recently received his 55 year Membership Pin. Donald was an avid curler, cross county skier and enjoyed family excursions.&nbsp;He never hesitated to drive 'Home' to Sheet Harbour many summers to visit his parents and siblings.&nbsp; Donald was a kind and caring man, his strong ethics and integrity defined his life and this is the legacy he leaves for his children. A loving and devoted family man Donald is survived by his wife of 55 years, Roberta Mae (MacKenzie), was proud father of daughters: Shauna Glidden (Mark), Janice Chittick, and Mary-Lynn Chittick; adoring Grandfather to his Grandchildren: Amanda Parkes (Kenneth), Avery Glidden, and great grandson Kenneth; Also survived by brothers: Leroy, Sheet Harbour, Robert (Margaret) Dartmouth, Dennis, Hilden; also sisters: Maxine (Donald) Hartling, Moncton, NB, Marjorie (Frank) Moore, Louise (Larry) Beal, Florence (John Knox), all of Dartmouth, Mary Iris (Ray) Pettipas, Fredericton, NB, Martha (Russell) Cameron, Sussex, NB; Sister-in-law Glenda (E. Warren). Pre-deceased by brothers: John Arnett, E. Warren and sister-in-law Ramona Chittick. <br /> No visitation by request, please join the family in celebrating Donald&rsquo;s life with a Memorial Service and Masonic prayers at 2pm Wednesday, August 1st at Atlantic Funeral Homes, 771 Main Street.
