G., 70, of Dartmouth, died on Sunday, December 23, 2012 at the Dartmouth General Hospital after suffering a cardiac arrest on December 12, 2012. </p> <p> He married Suzanne Crockett of Charlottetown, PEI in 1962 and they made their home in Dartmouth. His wife, Suzanne, daughter, Deanne (David) Shirley, Halifax and son Christopher (Cathrin) Ring, Ann Arbor, Michigan, survives David.&nbsp; His grandchildren, Laura Shirley, Halifax and Natalie, Monica, Jared, Mark and Sophia Ring, all of Ann Arbor will greatly miss him.&nbsp; His mother-in-law, Grace Crockett, Charlottetown, his brothers Jim (Beverley) Ring, Markham, Ontario and Bill (Nancy) Ring of Truro, NS and numerous nieces and nephews as well as a large number of cousins also survive him.&nbsp; His parents, Reginald G and Helen M (Jackson) Ring, his father-in-law, William T. Crockett and several aunts and uncles predeceased him </p> <p> David was born, while his parents were rushing to get to the hospital during a dangerous winter storm, on King&rsquo;s Wharf, Halifax on February 8, 1942.&nbsp; His childhood and adult years would see him active in sports such as swimming, hockey, and tennis. His natural ability for paddling led him to distinguish himself as an accomplished member of the Banook Canoe Club.&nbsp; He was an avid angler who enjoyed outings with his friends and family on the lakes and rivers of Nova Scotia. David enjoyed a long and successful career in commercial architectural sales. His passions during retirement included gardening, his grandchildren and spending time with his wife Suzanne at their cottage in northern Nova Scotia.Cremation has taken place. A public visitation will be held on Friday December 28th, 2012 from 6-8pm at Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main Street, Dartmouth. The funeral service will take place on Saturday December 29th at 10am in the funeral home chapel with interment to follow in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens. A reception following interment will be held in the Atlantic Funeral Home Reception Lounge.
