<div itemprop="description">Piggott,Cynthia - age 85 Dartmouth NS. Passed away Wednesday July 17 at Parkland Estates, Harris Hall, Baker Dr Dartmouth NS. Born Hillingdon, Middlesex England, she was the daughter of the late Harriet Allaway &amp; James Allaway (Post Master) . Cynthia &amp; Bruce arrived in Ontario by plane, then travelled to NS with daughter Jan (age 6) by train. Mom began a lengthy career at GB Murphys, Dartmouth as a private secretary to Mr Murphy. Mom then went to work at CIBC, in Halifax where she worked as a secretary in human resources, until she retired in 1988. Mom always had a good novel to read where she was a regular at the library. She loved to knit for friends&rsquo; babies. Supported PBS, television as she enjoyed watching various miniseries nightly. Most importantly, she was a lifelong member of the Dartmouth Horticultural Society. This is where mom &amp; dad had shared a mutual passion for gardening. Their garden was on the cover of Canadian Gardening magazine which made them very proud. Mom always shared her garden &amp; ideas with friends. She supported animal causes &amp; also had a daschound, Remi until she sold her home 2 yrs ago. She was a volunteer at the Cancer Society in Dartmouth. The last years of her life, she knitted baby hats for the NICU at the IWK. Mom made some wonderful friendships over the years, and was involved in social activities there. Mom passed away at home with her family friends at her bedside. She is survived by daughters, Janice (Piggott) Newton, Melissa(Piggott) Roberts; sons, Kevin Piggott, Alan Piggott; sisters, Jean (Allaway) Brooklyn, Evelyn (Allaway) Hewlett &amp; Irene (Allaway) Newton; six grandchildren, Christopher &amp; Richard Newton, Matthew &amp; Bradley Piggott, Talan &amp; Rachel Piggott; one great grandchild, Oliver Newton. Besides her parents, Cynthia was predeceased by her husband, Bruce Gordon Piggott. There will be no visitation by family request. Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday July 23 at Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth. Rev. James Haughn officiating. Donations may be made to any Animal Rescue Organization, SPCA &amp; Red Cross.</div>
