Chiodo-Gillis, Catherine-40 of Dartmouth. Catherine passed away quietly and peacefully on December 18, 2014 at the Dartmouth General Hospital, with her husband and best friend, Craig at her side. He has been at her side throughout her year long struggle. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of David and the late Alana (Jefferson) Chiodo.

Every once in a while, someone special passes through our lives, someone who touches and affects the lives of all they meet. Catherine was such a person. You just felt good when you were with her. Even during her final fight she had something to say that would put a smile on your face.

She leaves behind a family that will always have an emptiness in their lives; her husband Craig Gillis; sisters Laura (Mitch) Manzer and Louise (Craig) Powell, nieces Katie and Payton; and nephews Nic, Cobi, Alex and Nathan; aunts and uncles, Jacques Laverdure, Lise MacIntosh (Jamie), Nicole Billard (Steve). She will also be missed by her friends at the Dartmouth Sportsplex where she worked for almost 25 years as well as the dozens of friends who did so much to help her and Craig this past year. She will be missed by her fur babies, Wallace and Harriet.

Visitation will be held on Saturday December 20, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9pm in the Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main Street Dartmouth. The funeral service will take place on Sunday December 21 at 3pm in the funeral home chapel, Rev. James Haughn officiating, followed by a reception. Cremation and interment to take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the SPCA of Nova Scotia.

The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the Victoria General and Dartmouth General Hospitals.
