<div itemprop="description">Alvin Leroy Meldrum <br>Age 81 of Dartmouth passed away peacefully with family by his side on January 30, 2017 in the Dartmouth General Hospital. He was born January 26, 1936 to the late Edgar and Rosetta (Curtis ne: Burgoyne) Meldrum. He is predeceased by his Wife Margaret, Brother Raymond and Sister Florence Murphy. He is survived by his Son Brent, Daughter Seanne (Brian), Grandchildren Solomon and Ava, Sister in Law Darlene (Ken) Roberts, Sisters: Violet (Donald) Gates and Jean Martin. Brothers: Cecil (Joyce), Clayton Meldrum and several Step Brothers and Sisters in Ontario. Alvin lived a full and love filled life. He served in the Canadian Armed Forces from the age of 21 for 30 years as an aircraft technician and Canadian Peacekeeper in Egypt and Azores and was a lifetime member of Whites Lake Legion. After retiring from the military he continued working in aviation at IMP until retirement. He was an avid hockey player and fan, he enjoyed watching curling, golf, Nascar and wrestling. He loved birds of all types and was passionate about fishing and hunting with his Brother in Law, Nephews and friends. His main hobby was wildlife wood carving and he won several awards through the NSWCAA which he was so proud of. He was proud of his family, adored his Grandchildren and had a giving and loving heart, he is dearly missed. We ask that you look to the sky for an Eagle above, Al will be watching over you. Special thanks to Dr. Lymburner and the nurses of 3 East of Dartmouth General Hospital, your caring, empathy and compassion is appreciated. Visitation will be held Thursday February 2, from 2-4 and 7-9, at the Atlantic Funeral Homes, Dartmouth Chapel from where the funeral service will take place on Friday February 3, 10am.
